Creating Sustainable Livelihoods from Social Entrepreneurship

This training started on a high note a week ago. It was a productive working week with DOT Kenya staff, VACID Africa Staff and our Facilitators from the YCenter in Philadelphia.

Each participant identified problems in Agriculture and from these, the top five problems were used to create thematic groups, namely:  Information; Markets; Government Policies; Storage and Inputs. Each group was required to come up with the most innovative solution. 

The week ended with the Ideation Day. This revolved around creating a solution to identified problems using the concept of design thinking. Participants worked in groups according to the identified themes (Information, Market, Inputs, Storage, Government policy groups).

Ideation focused on:
• Triggered brain walking -Where the participants brainstorm the possible solutions in a random sketch.
• Word match/Mismatch-Participants filtered random words to identify best fit .
• Scamper-it is the solution angle of the entire process.

This week, we are focusing on solutions and more solutions. I will be back with more on this training.
